Meet the teamChristopher Stephen
—Co-founder and CVO, ReadHowYouWant. Chris holds degrees in physics, math, economics, and law from
the University of Sydney. He previously founded Computer Law Services Pty Ltd and Lawpoint Pty Ltd, both of
which he sold to Thomson Publishing. Chris resides in Sydney, Australia. Christopher Hume—Chairman of the Board of Directors and UK Managing Director, ReadHowYouWant. Chris has worked with Chris
Stephen for over 15 years and has been with ReadHowYouWant since its inception. He is an actuary, a farmer, and
chaired the board of the University of Brighton. Mark Tanner—Publisher Relations Manager Australia, ReadHowYouWant. Mark joined ReadHowYouWant after receiving his B.A. from Sydney University. Prior to joining R H Y W, he worked for McKinsey and Company as a Business Analyst in their summer program. While at University, Mark majored in History and Government & International Relations and was an active participant in all aspects of student life and leadership. He was on the executive of both the University of Sydney Union and St Paul’s College. Mark hopes that his involvement with ReadHowYouWant will be the start of a long entrepreneurial career focused around socially positive companies. Mark lives in Sydney, Australia and loves skiing and travelling. Maureen Watts—Director Publisher Relations and Publicity, Marketing, ReadHowYouWant. A 20-year veteran of the book publishing world, Maureen has worked in-house and freelance as a publicist, copywriter, marketing director, and literary agent. Her company, Publishing Works, specializes in consulting with independent publishing companies. Maureen’s client list includes Ten Speed Press, Palgrave/Macmillan, Heyday Books, and Wiley Publishers. She earned her B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and studied law in San Francisco and intellectual property law and art in Florence, Italy. Maureen is co-author of Poetry for Dummies, and lives in Portland, OR, where she practices Qi Gong, and frequents Powell’s Books. Peyton Stafford
—Director of Global Library and Institutional Services, ReadHowYouWant. Peyton holds a B.A. from Lewis and Clark College and an M.A. from The University of Chicago. He has been working in libraries and publishing since the 1970s, and is a member of ALA, LITA and other library-related organizations. Peyton has worked for many publishing houses as well as for wholesalers and jobbers specializing in library services. He created, implemented and managed highly successful library sales and services programs for a book wholesaler and for a library technology corporation. Prior to his involvement in publishing and library services, Peyton worked for a public agency that provided vocational retraining and other services to blind adults. His mission at ReadHowYouWant is to develop our capacity to serve visually-impaired readers who access written and audio materials through libraries and educational institutions. Peyton lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where he enjoys outdoor recreation and nature. He is your contact if you are a librarian or library consortium member, a textbook or course pack buyer, a book wholesaler serving the library or educational markets, or an e-book or audio book aggregator serving these markets. Bradi Grebien-Samkow
—Associate Publicist, ReadHowYouWant. Bradi has received a MFA in Poetry
from Eastern Washington University, as well as a MS in Book Publishing from Portland State University. Prior to
working for ReadHowYouWant, she worked for two NW publishers: Ooligan Press and EWU Press. Being a Portland native,
she is enthusiastic about the growing literary culture in her hometown, and volunteers for Wordstock Festival of the
Book as a Volunteer Coordinator. |
