Hamsters Don't Glow in the Dark is the fourth book in the lovely Abby and Tess Pet Sitters series of children's books. This installment finds Mr. Nibbles, a Teddy Bear hamster who lives in Mrs. Hernandez's grade school classroom, is in need of holiday accommodations over spring break. When Mrs. Hernandez asks for a volunteer to take Mr. Nibbles home over the week long break, Abby's hand is the first one in the air.

Abby is the ideal candidate to host Mr. Nibbles. Abby and her younger sister Tess are professional pet-sitters and they even run their own pet-sitting business. Once Mrs. Hernandez learns of this, it is no contest, Abby is to have Mr. Nibbles as a houseguest - on one condition, she has to get a permission slip signed by her mother okaying the project. There is only one major hurtle; Abby lives in an apartment building that has a no pets policy.

What is she to do? Follow Abby as she finds a way to take Mr. Nibbles home, and to do it honestly and openly. Also discover what happens when, horrors of horrors, Abby finds that Mr. Nibble likes her little sister Tess, better than her! Along the way, readers also learn a lot about hamsters and how they are cared for, and that Mr. Nibbles is hiding an exciting secret that will forever change how the students of Mrs. Hernandez's class look at their furry classmate.
