Born in Sydney, Marion von Adlerstein has lived and worked in her native city as well as in Melbourne, London, New York and Venice. Her early career included working in a London advertising agency and for almost twenty years she held posts at Vogue Australia publications, including as Travel Director. During these years Marion wrote about many subjects including fashion, beauty and interiors. She is the author of the non-fiction guides The Passionate Shopper and The Penguin Book of Etiquette. The Freudian Slip is her first novel.
