About the Book
Originally published in 1891, Oscar Wilde's Intentions is a collection of literary essays that present his views on art and criticism. Wilde’s aesthetic philosophy and his commentaries on art, literature, criticism, and society asserts the philosophy of 'art for art's sake': art is an end in itself, and literature does not need to convey didactic lessons to be valuable.
About the Author
An eminent Irish playwright, novelist and poet, Wilde belonged to the late Victorian Era. Known for his role in Aesthetic and Decadent movements and his barbed wit, he was imprisoned on account of gross indecency for writing on taboo subjects.
