    Biography

    . Cort Sinnes is a grill and garden expert and the award-winning author of more than twenty books. Part of the original Ortho Book Series team in 1974, Sinnes spent a decade writing and editing numerous gardening titles, including All About Annuals, All About Perennials, and All About Fertilizers, Soils, and Water. During this time he also wrote the annual Ortho Lawn and Garden Book for nurseries and garden centers. A. Cort Sinnes is National Gardening Magazines and Fishing Worlds regular food columnist. His syndicated column, ''In Your Own Backyard,'' appears in more than 250 newspapers every month. He also contributes to Fine Cooking and Cooks Illustrated. He is the editor of the National Home Gardening Clubs magazine, Gardening How-To, and he serves as the clubs executive director. In 1984 and1985, Sunset Books published Sinness Houseplants: The Gardeners Answer Book and Container Gardening. His first cookbook, The Grilling Book, came out in 1986. That same year, Sinnes began serving as the editor-in-chief for Flower and Garden Magazine in Kansas City, Missouri, a position he held until 1990. He launched his own series, Backyard Books, after leaving the magazine. In 1992 Andrews McMeel published Sinnes In Your Own Backyard, which won the Garden Writers Association of America Quill and Trowel Award, and followed up with Backyard Games in 1993. His second cookbook, The Grilling Encyclopedia, was nominated for a James Beard Award in 1992. Harvard Common Press published Sinness most popular cookbook, The Gas Grill Gourmet, in 1996.;
