    Emily Brontë was the fifth of six children of a Haworth curate. When her sister Charlotte discovered her talent, Emily and her two surviving sisters began to write and published a volume of poems, Emily writing under the penname Ellis Bell. Her novel, Wuthering Heights (1847), is a classic of English literature. ;
