Einhard,
Biography
Frankish historian Eginhard was born in an eastern district of the Frankish Empire. He received his earliest training at the monastery of Fulda. Later he was sent to the court of Charlemagne. He was among his master's favourite, who bears witness to his remarkable talent in mathematics and architecture, and he was among emperor's most trusted advisers. Charlemagne gave him the charge of his great public buildings, e.g. the construction of Aachen cathedral and the palaces of Aachen and Ingelheim. The most important of Einhard's works is the Vita Caroli Magni, (The Life of Charlemagne) the best biography of the whole period of the middle ages.
