    Biography

    George MacDonald (1824 - 1905), aScottish author andclergyman, was born at Huntly, Aberdeenshire, to a prosperous and religious family. He wrote juvenile fiction that was remarkable for its tender spirituality. MacDonaldstudied moral philosophy and sciences atAberdeen University and attended Independent College, Highbury for training as a Congregational Minister. He wrote over fifty volumes offiction, stories, sermons, and poetry. Within and Without (1855) and Phantastes (1858) are his most famous works. ;
