Biography
Henry Bibb (1815 - 1854) was an African - American author and abolitionist. He was born a slave in Shelby County, Kentucky. Bibb is best - known for his autobiography Narrative of the Life and Adventures of Henry Bibb, An American Slave, Written by Him(1849), which is regarded as one of the most reliable slave autobiographies. He is also remembered as an abolitionist and for his remarkable lectures against slavery. He set up the first black newspaper, Voice of the Fugitive, in 1851 in Canada. ;
