    Sturgis, Howard Overing

    Biography

    Howard Overing Sturgis (1855 - 1920), an American emigrant and an occasional novelist, was born in a well - off New England merchant family in London. He is best - known for his two gay novels, Tim: A Story of Eton and Belchamber. He also wrote one short story, 'On the Pottlecombe Cornice' (1908), a memorial of his friend, Anne Thackeray, and an epistolary novel from the viewpoint of a retired actress, All That Was Possible (1895). Sturgis died at the age of 65. ;
