    Biography

    Barry Hill has won Premier’s Awards for poetry, non-fiction and the essay. He is possibly best known for the multi-award winning biography of T.G.H. Strehlow, Broken Song, which has been described as ‘one of the great Australian books’. His short fiction has been widely anthologised and translated into Japanese and Chinese. He has written extensively for radio and had a libretto performed in The Studio, at the Sydney Opera House. His poetry appears in annual anthologies and his most recent poetry book, Naked Clay: Drawing from Lucian Freud was short-listed for the 2012 UK’s Forward Prize. He’s been a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Melbourne and between 1998 and 2008 was Poetry Editor of The Australian. Peacemongers arrives after ten years of travelling in India and Japan in a vain effort to escape from the domestic atmosphere generated from his country’s participation in wars of invasion.;
