    McFarlane, Michael Roberts and Glenn

    Biography

    Glenn McFarlane's proudest moment in his short football career was being presented with a Collingwood Under-17s jumper by Machine Team champion Harry Collier. Born into a Collingwood family, he has long been a passionate fan of the Magpies, thanks to being 'brainwashed' by his mother at an early age. Glenn's grandfather, Charlie Dibbs, was the full-back in those four successive Premierships. Glenn corresponded with, and met, a number of Charlie's teammates, including Collier and Harold Rumney. Glenn represented Collingwood in under-age football and cricket teams, but his passion was always sports journalism. He started a cadetship with the Sun News-Pictorial before joining the Sunday Herald Sun. He was sports editor of the Sunday Herald Sun for 11 years and is now a senior sports reporter with the Herald Sun. Glenn is married to Christine and has three children, Lachlan, Elise and Charlotte. Michael Roberts is a journalist and author who has written or edited 10 books, most on Australian football. He is the president of the Australian Football Heritage Group and is the Collingwood Football Club's official historian. He is also co-owner of media and content company Media Giants. Michael first dreamed of playing for Collingwood at the age of about four. Some 40 years later he still holds onto that dream, though he concedes his prospects of a call-up are now diminishing. He still has his autographed copy of Peter McKenna's My World of Football.;
