    Biography

    Giraldus Cambrensis, also known as Gerald of Wales, (c. 1146 - 1223), was a Norman - Welsh clergyman, writer, and historian. He was born in an aristocratic family at Manorbier Castle, Pembrokeshire. Cambrensis is best - known for his writings about Wales, the Itinerarium Cambriae (1191) and the Descriptio Cambriae (1194). Gerald making a pilgrimage to Rome in 1207 and died a few years later. ;
