Balzac, Honore de
Balzac was the nineteenth - century French author of La Comédie Humaine, a series of almost 100 novels and plays. He was one of the founders of French literary realism and is known for the complexity of his characters: he has been called the French Dickens. A brilliant writer, he had trouble succeeding in school and in the business world. He is famous for the intense focus of his work habits - he would rise at midnight and work for fifteen hours straight, often working on several different works at a time.
Honore de Balzac was a French novelist. He would become one of the creators of Realism in literature. His “Human Comedy” spanned more than 90 novels and short stories in an attempt to comprehend and depict the realities of life in modern bourgeois France.
