    Ingraham, Colonel

    Biography

A popular writer Ingraham mostly wrote dime novels of the Cuban War (with which he had personal experience). Perhaps 200 of his novels are about his friend Buffalo Bill. He was a Confederate veteran and later a soldier of fortune, fighting under Juarez in Mexico against the Maximilian and the French. He had vast knowledge of the frontier west, and of naval life in the Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean, which is why he wrote fables of heroism and action mostly. His works included tales of sea piracy under such titles as The Corsair Queen, The Gipsies of the Sea: A Romance
