    Biography

    American author, lawyer and diplomat, Page is famous for depicting the splendour of the Old South in his writings. His novels, short stories and poetry are spread over 18 volumes which were published in 1912 as a collected edition. His most popular novels include On Newfound River (1891), and Red Rock (1898). Some of his best short stories are collected in In Ole Virginia (1887), and The Burial of the Guns (1894). Page worked as a lawyer from 1876 to 1893. He later served as an ambassador to Italy from 1913 to 1919. Italy and the World War (1920) is an account of his life and experiences there. ;
