    Biography

    Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca (1490 - 1557) was a Spanish explorer who was born in Jerez de la Frontera. Vaca served as the treasurer of a royal expedition in 1527 led by the Spanish soldier Pánfilo de Narváez to overpower and colonize Florida. He is best known for his account of the Narváez expedition, La Relación(1542), a historical portrait that is regarded as aclassic of colonial literature. Vaca died at the age of 67. ;
