    Biography

    Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffmann (1776 - 1822), better known as E. T. A. Hoffmann, was a German writer, composer, caricaturist, and painter. He is best known today for his supernatural characters and gothic tales. Hoffmann intended to be a musician and painter, but later hebecame interested in writing. He is considered one of the key representatives of German Romanticism and a pioneer of the fantasy genre. His supernatural tales include Ritter Gluck (1809), and Don Juan(1813). ;
