Henri Barbusse (1873 - 1935) was a French journalist, novelist, and communist born in Asnieres - sur - Seine. He served in the military and is best known forLe Feu (1916), a novel based on hisexperiences of World War I. Also a journalist,Barbusse organized a movement for the social and political advancement of writers around the globe. He wrote several popular books, includingLight (1919), The Inferno (1908), and Chains (1925).
