Hiroko Shimbo is an esteemed cooking instructor, lecturer, author, and authority on Japanese cooking and other Asian cuisines. She is the owner and operator of Hiroko's Kitchen Cooking School, which has just recently opened in New York City, after eight years in Tokyo and two years in London. The classes are taught in English and are designed to instruct non-natives in all aspects of Japanese and other Asian cuisines, from shopping for ingredients to preparation and presentation technique. Hiroko has written several articles on Japanese cooking for Appellation and Saveur magazines and, in addition to her own cooking school classes, has taught at the James Beard House, Peter Kump's School of Culinary Arts, the Cooking School of Aspen, and several other prestigious cooking schools. A native of Japan, Hiroko currently lives in New York City.
