Biography
Jean - Henri Casimir Fabre (1823 - 1915) was a French entomologist and author. He was born in Saint - Léons in Aveyron, France and was as a popular teacher, physicist, chemist and botanist. He is best known as an entomologist and is regarded by many as the father of modern entomology. Fabrewrote several books on insects and arachnids that were collected and published as the ten - volume Souvenirs Entomologiques.

Fabre undertook some important research on insects and wrote many books on the subject. He was primarily self-taught and worked as a teacher at a number of French schools including Carpentras and Avignon.
