Winberg, J. Patrick Boyer and Mona

Mona Winberg was born in Toronto with severe cerebral palsy. Supported by her mother's tough love, she learned to communicate, got an education, joined the workforce, enjoyed the dignity of ''independent living'' with support from family and service providers, and became a resilient public advocate for people with disabilities. She died on January 19, 2009. J. Patrick Boyer studied law at the International Court of Justice in The Netherlands, served as Canada's Parliamentary Secretary for External Affairs, and works for democratic development overseas. The author of 23 books on Canadian history, law, politics, and governance, Patrick lives with wife Elise in Muskoka and Toronto.
