    Biography

    James Anthony Froude (1818 - 1894) was an English historian, novelist, biographer, and editor born in Dartington, England. He is best known for his historical writings, especially his 12 - volume History of England from the Fall of Wolsey to the Defeat of the Spanish Armada (1856 - 70). Froude was professor of modern history at Oxford and wrote many famous books, including Carlyle's Reminiscences (1881) and Letters and Memorials of Jane Welsh Carlyle (1883). ;
