    Biography

    French author, ambassador, conjurer and a legendary master of magic, Robert-Houdin was notable for his optical illusions and mechanical devices. He attributed his "magic" to natural means. Houdin was the first to use electromagnetism for his effects. A Conjurer' s Confession is his best-known work. His other works includes an Autobiography (1857), Secrets of Prestidigitation and Magic (1868). ;
