Bangs, John Kendrick
John Kendrick Bangs (1862 - 922), an American author, satirist, and editor, was born in Yonkers, New York. Graduating from Columbia Law School, he wrote a form of fantasy that came to be known as Bangsian Fantasy. In 1884, Bangs became Associate Editor of Lifemagazine andworked as a humor editor for the magazines of Harper & Brothers. Bangs wrote humorous stories, verse, and plays, including Three Weeks in Politics (1894) and A Houseboat on the Styx (1896).
John Kendrick Bangs had a uniquely American approach in his writings. He wrote fantasy set in the after-life. His satire and writings focused on the popular culture and prevalent trends.
