Biography
Joseph A. Altsheler (1862 - 1919) was an American journalist and juvenile fiction writer. He was born in Three Springs, Kentucky and was educated at Liberty College, Glasgow and Vanderbilt University. Altsheler started his career as a journalist and worked for several papers, including the Louisville Courier - Journal, theNew York World andthe World's tri - weekly magazine, to which he contributed children's stories. He wrote six series of books, among whichThe Young Trailers Series is the most popular.
