Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 - 43 BC) was one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. A statesman, scholar, lawyer, and philosopher, his political philosophies, humanitarian ideas, and oratorical style are reflected in his correspondence with his friend, Atticus. He also presented the Greek philosophy to Romans, thus establishing himself as an important linguist and translator.
