    Biography

    Minister, civil rights leader, intellectual, social reformer, and author - Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Prize for peace in 1964. He was a leading spokesman for African Americans in the civil rights movement. He was ordained and appointed as an assistant pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. He preached love, equality and nonviolence. In 1963, he led a march in Washington and gave his "I Have a Dream" speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. His works include: Stride Toward Freedom (1958), Strength to Love (1963), Why We Can?t Wait (1964).;
