    Biography

    Ouida (1839 - 1908), pen name for Maria Louise Rame, was an English novelist. She was born in Bury St. Edmunds, England,to a French father and an English mother. She was known for her melodramatic romances about fashionable life. Her most famous works are Under Two Flags (1867) and Moths (1880). Ouida wrote more than forty novels, juvenile fiction, collections of short stories, and essays throughout her career. Her other works include Bimbi: Stories for Children (1882). ;
