Wister, Owen

American author, chiefly noted for his novel The Virginian. Educated at Harvard University, Wister practiced law in Philadelphia and later on abandoned it in his pursuit of a literary career. Wister's other works include Lady Baltimore (1906) and Roosevelt, The Story of a Friendship (1930).;
