Richard Walsh has written for television (including weekly contributions to The Mavis Bramston Show) and for the stage (Terra Australis, produced by a very young Jim Sharman). He has six published books to his name, plus a jointly written and anonymous commercial novel. He was founding editor of the satirical magazine OZ, the women's magazine POL and the weekly newspaper Nation Review. He was Managing Director and Publisher at Angus + Robertson for fourteen years; he was a founding member of the Literature Board and a founding director of Copyright Agency Ltd. He was head of Australian Consolidated Press for thirteen years, during which he edited The Bulletin and The Australian Women' s Weekly for short periods.
