Aldrich, Thomas Bailey
Biography
American short-story writer, poet and editor, Aldrich played an influential role in the development of the short-story genre.
He was born in Portsmouth and based his best work Story of a Bad Boy (1870) on the life he experienced there. His first book of poetry, Bells was published in 1855. Aldrich's work comprises of both prose and poetry.
Some of his major works are Marjory Daw and Other People (1873), Cloth of Gold (1874), Queen of Sheba (1877), Mercedes and Later Lyrics (1884), and Windham Towers (1890).
