    American historian, professor and an acclaimed expert on Latin America. Shepherd's most celebrated work is the Historical Atlas (1911). He actively participated in many pan-American symposiums and delivered lectures in many countries on Latin America and pan-American unity. Shepherd also worked as the advisory editor of The Hispanic-American Review. His major writings include Central and South America (1914), Latin America (1914), and The Hispanic Nations of the New World (1919). ;
