Ellis, Edward Sylvester
Edward Sylvester Ellis (1840 - 1916), an American author, was born in Ohio. He was a major author of the nineteenth century and wrote hundreds of dime novels under his own name and a number of pseudonyms. He was expert in boys stories and is best known for his Deerhunter novels. Later in his career, he also wrote serious works of biography and history. His works include The Huge Hunter (1868) and Seth Jones, or the Captives of the Frontier.
Edward S. Ellis is celebrated as a multi-talented, prolific writer and poet. He used innumerable pseudonyms to pen several brilliant works. Starting his career with adventurous fiction, later he turned his attention to histories and biographies.
