Jules Verne's Michael Strogoff, or The Courier of the Czar (1876) is a novel of adventure and intrigue that was part of the Voyages Extraordinaires series. Siberia faces the danger of an impending invasion by the Tatar king Feofar Khan. The Governor-General of Siberia must be warned of the invasion, but all the telegraph lines have been cut. Verne depicts the determination and courage of the courier in this story.
