Crawford, Francis Marion
American novelist famous for romances with historical backgrounds and glamorous depictions of life in sophisticated society. Mr. Isaacs (1882), his first novel achieved great success. His intimate knowledge of local Italian history combined with imaginative faculty is apparent in his works. He was a talented narrator. The Saracinesca series also gained huge popularity and is liked by the readers. His other notable works include: The White sister (1909), Via Crucis (1898), In the Palace of the King (1900).
