    Henry William Herbert(1807 - 1858) was an English novelist, poet, and sports writer. He was born in London to William Herbert, Dean of Manchester, and was educated at Eton College. He graduated from Caius College, Cambridge in 1830. After graduation, Herbert came to America to escape his debts and taughtGreek and Latin for eight years in private schools in New York. He then started the American Monthly Magazine in 1833. The Brothers; a Tale of the Fronde (1835) andCromwell (1838) are among his most famous works. ;
