    Biography

    MTC Cronin's work first appeared in print in early 1993 and since then she has written seven collections of poetry. Published internationally, she has won many major Australian literary awards, including the prestigious Gwen Harwood Memorial Poetry Prize. Since 1998 she has been awarded the Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship, two Ian Potter Foundation Cultural Trust grants, and a grant from the Australia Council for the Arts. Her poetry is as it should be - accessible without sacrificing poetic form, beauty, experimentation or intelligence. Born in 1963 in Merriwa in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, MTC Cronin grew up in Caloundra, Queensland. She attended the Universities of Queensland, New South Wales, Technology and Sydney, studying political science, law, literature and creative writing. After employment for most of the nineties in law, she began teaching literature and creative writing in secondary and tertiary institutions. She is currently working on a doctorate in the area of 'poetry and law'. She lives in Sydney with her partner, a musician, and their two daughters.;
