Biography
Best-known for her brilliant translation of the medieval Welsh legend, the Mabinogion. Lady Charlotte Guest is regarded as one of the most remarkable women of the 19th century. She is famed for her efforts to revive the Welsh literature. She was a co-founder of the Society of Welsh Scholars of Abergavenny. Her translation of the Mabinogion tales is a superb piece of writing. The first volume was published in 1838. She and her second husband, Charles Schreiber had a vast book collection. Lady Charlotte catalogued these books which proved to be of great value to future generations. In 1888, she produced a book on English fans, followed by one on European fans (1890). ;
