Biography
German scholar, priest, theologian and religious reformer. Luther is one of the chief figures in European history. He laid the foundation of Protestant Reformation; and greatly influenced the fields of politics, religion, education and economics.
Luther wrote extensively, and some of his most famous works include the Ninety-Five Theses (1517), Concerning the Bondage of the Will (1525), Of Councils and Churches (1539), and Small Catechism (1559). He is also acclaimed for his translation of the Bible from Hebrew into German. The translation of the New Testament was published in 1522, while that of the Old Testament appeared in 1534.
